Strategic Team Services

Sometimes the opportunity is the team.

Growth strategies do not always begin with an open position. Sometimes an institution needs to build a coordinated team around a defined strategy. Other times, a proven team is already intact and considering where it can create the most value next. Doherty Search Partners works from both directions.

Two ways a Strategic Team engagement begins.

Not every leadership team build starts in the same place. DSP uses the same disciplined process in either case.

Institution-Led Team Build

The institution has the strategy. We help build the team.

DSP translates the institution's strategy and operating model into leadership architecture, required roles, market mapping and a coordinated multi-role search.

Typical situations include:

  • New lending businesses
  • Expansion into a new market
  • Succession
  • Team rebuilds
  • New specialty lending capabilities
  • Digital lending businesses
  • Hybrid lending models
  • Private-capital platform expansion

Team-Led Representation

The team exists. We help identify the right institutional platform.

DSP may confidentially represent a proven team that is considering a coordinated move. We define the team's capabilities, leadership structure, production or operating model, market requirements and institutional fit before approaching prospective organizations.

DSP controls confidential representation and disclosure.

A team is an opportunity — not a business case.

Where a financial institution is considering building a new lending capability around the team, Mainlynk may separately evaluate the economics, credit model, technology, operations and governance before the institution commits.

Different teams create value differently.

Not every strategic team is a relationship-manager lift-out. DSP evaluates the team's actual operating model and institutional fit.

Relationship-Led Team

Typically centered on a business leader, RMs or BDOs, credit expertise and portfolio capability.

Value may depend on:

  • Market relationships
  • Production capability
  • Leadership
  • Credit expertise
  • Customer continuity
  • Team cohesion

Digital / Platform Team

Usually smaller and organized differently from a traditional RM team. Evaluate operating capability rather than applying an RM headcount model.

Value may depend on:

  • Digital/program leadership
  • Product
  • Credit
  • Operations
  • Data/integration
  • Marketplace or embedded-channel management
  • Capacity management
  • Partner management

Hybrid Team

Combines relationship-led origination with digital, marketplace, embedded or other external sources. Requires leadership capable of governing both models under one operating architecture.

Value may depend on:

  • Relationship origination
  • Digital/external flow
  • Unified credit architecture
  • Clear attribution and decision rights
  • Governance across both models

When talent and the lending business must be designed together.

A proven team may create an attractive growth opportunity, but people alone do not establish that a lending business should be built. When an institution is evaluating a new or materially redesigned lending capability, Mainlynk may be separately engaged to evaluate the business, economics and operating architecture.

Doherty Search Partners separately owns the leadership architecture, candidate relationships and search or team representation.

For a standalone retained search where the business and leadership mandate are already sufficiently defined, DSP does not require the full Mainlynk sequence.

Mainlynk

Designs the lending capability.

Doherty Search Partners

Designs and executes the leadership strategy.

Institution

Makes the business, hiring, credit and operating decisions.
